Write or update your Will this March and support St Richard’s Hospice.
This March, you can make or update your Will with the help of a local solicitor while supporting St Richard’s Hospice. Our partner solicitors are kindly waiving their usual fees and donating their time and expertise to help raise vital funds for our care. In return, we suggest a minimum donation of £125 for a basic single Will, or £175 for Mirror Wills (for couples). Every donation made through Write a Will Month helps ensure we can continue to be there for our patients and their families when they need us most.
At St Richard’s, we understand how reassuring it is to have your affairs in order, to know your loved ones are cared for, and your wishes are clearly understood. Yet more than half of UK adults don’t have a Will*. Writing one ensures your wishes are respected, and those you care about are protected.
A simple single Will typically costs between £150 and £300 through a solicitor, a small step that brings lasting peace of mind. Having an up-to-date Will means your money, property, and possessions go to the people and causes that matter most to you, making things easier for your family in the future.
How can I get a Will and support St Richard’s?
Being part of Write a Will month and supporting St Richard’s is easy; our step-by-step guide below will help you understand the process. There are limited spaces available with our partner solicitors, so we recommend you book early to avoid disappointment.
Step 1: Head to our online booking page and choose a solicitor from the list available. On registration, you will be asked if you would like to make a donation; it is automatically set at £125 (the cost of a single Will).
Step 2: After registering and making your donation, you will receive an email with the contact details for your chosen solicitor. You will need to contact them directly to book your appointment for March, and be sure to mention Write a Will Month at St Richard’s Hospice.
Step 3: Before your appointment, prepare a list of your assets and the people you’d like to include in your will. You’ll also need to bring a form of legal ID with you to your appointment.

Write a Will Month is an initiative during March 2026 where local participating solicitors kindly offer will-writing services in return for a suggested donation to St Richard’s Hospice.
Choose a solicitor from the list provided, register via our booking platform, and make your suggested donation. You will then receive an email with the details you need to book your appointment directly with your chosen solicitor.
We suggest a minimum donation of £125 for a single will or £175 for a pair of mirror wills. 100% of your donation goes directly to St Richard’s Hospice to support our care services.
This offer is for a straightforward will only. If, when you meet with your solicitor, it turns out your circumstances require a more complex will (for example, one including a Trust or other detailed provisions), your solicitor will discuss this with you and explain any additional time or costs involved. Any extra charges will be agreed with you before any further work is done.
After registering and donating, you will get an email with instructions to contact your chosen solicitor. You can then get in touch to book an appointment to suit. The solicitor slot is only valid for appointments in March; it’s important that you contact them straight after receiving your booking confirmation to avoid any delays.
Yes — by registering, you give us permission to share your contact details with your chosen solicitor so they can contact you about your appointment. Your details will be used only for this purpose and not shared for marketing unless you give further consent.

Yes — you can choose to leave a gift to a charity like St Richard’s Hospice in your will, and even a small gift can make a meaningful difference. Charitable gifts are exempt from Inheritance Tax, and if you leave 10% or more of the net value of your estate to charity, the rate of Inheritance Tax on the remainder may be reduced from 40% to 36% under current UK rules.
