More and more people need hospice care across Worcestershire every day. Our community is living much longer, often with multiple, complex conditions for which there is no cure. We know that the number of patients and their families who will need us will continue to rise, whether it’s at the hospice, at home, or through our Living Well services.
But this care isn’t guaranteed. Just 20% of St Richard’s funding is provided by the NHS; the hospice must find the other 80% each and every year.

Honouring Jeanne’s memory
Jeanne was just 43 when she died in March 2023. In her final weeks, St Richard’s gave her and her wife, Lia, something that felt almost impossible – peace.
From the moment they arrived, it felt like a home from home. Every person they met showed kindness and compassion — and even Jeanne’s beloved cat, Rogue, was welcomed, keeping their little family together.
After her first full day, Jeanne took Lia’s hand and said:
“You made the right choice; it’s really peaceful here.”
Jeanne spent her final weeks calm, comfortable and surrounded by dignity and care.
And the hospice didn’t just support Jeanne – they held Lia through the hardest time of her life.
Now, Lia honours Jeanne’s memory by making a regular donation, helping other families feel that same compassion when they need it most.

£10 a month
could contribute to running a children’s group session for six weeks, providing support for young people experiencing the death of a close family member.
£20 a month
could contribute to a patient’s care at the hospice for two days, funding their medical care, nutritious meals, and access to our support services.
£40 a month
could contribute to the hospice’s community team, bringing care and support into people’s homes, enabling patients to remain in their own surroundings as long as possible.
