Your Gift, Our Care – Make a lasting difference, with a gift in Will.
Each year, the hospice team supports more than 3,000 patients, family members and bereaved people in Worcestershire.
We simply wouldn’t be here without people like you who help raise 80% of the £12m it costs to run hospice services each year.
“The minute he went through the doors he would have a massive grin on his face. It was somewhere that he could be Larry.
“There were times I was lost, I didn’t know what I was going to do, but I knew I could ring the hospice and there would be somebody there to help me.
“Leaving a gift in my Will is a way for me to say thank you for everything St Richard’s did for me and Larry, and for my mum, aunt and uncle as well.”

Gift in Will FAQs
What type of gift can I leave in my Will?
There are several kinds of gifts you can leave in your Will. Each gift is special to us and ensures that we’re able to provide the very best care and support to those in need, today and into the future.
A specific gift – This type of gift is usually something like property or a specific item, such as an antique or piece of jewellery.
A gift in trust or ‘life interest’ – If you like, you can leave a gift for use over a specific period of time. After that time has passed, the gift could then be passed on to other recipients, such as a charity.
A cash gift or ‘pecuniary gift’ – This is when you leave a beneficiary an exact sum of money.
A share of your estate or ‘residuary gift’ – After you’ve provided for your loved ones and taxes have been paid, you could leave a share, or the remainder of your estate to St Richard’s. Just 1% of your estate can make a significant impact in supporting local families during times of pain and loss.
How much does it cost to write my Will?
Using our free online Will writing service, MyIntent, means you can make a Will today at no cost, ensuring your wishes are taken care of in the future.
If you choose to work with a solicitor instead, fees can differ depending on varying circumstances. We recommend contacting a few solicitors to compare their fees and services. To find a local solicitor, visit The Law Society’s by clicking the button below.
Do I have to leave a minimum amount in my Will to St Richard’s Hospice?
No. Every gift in every Will, no matter how big or small, has the power to make a difference to hospice care. Thank you for your incredible support.
Are there tax benefits to leaving a gift in Will to St Richard’s Hospice?
Leaving a part, or your entire estate to charity can reduce, and in some situations, eliminate any Inheritance Tax liability.
If you leave something to St Richard’s Hospice in your will, it won’t count towards the total taxable value of your estate. This is called leaving a ‘charitable legacy’. You can also cut the Inheritance Tax rate on the rest of your estate from 40% to 36% if you leave at least 10% of your estate to a charity.
