Worcester was awash with colour on Saturday, 22 August as hundreds of people turned out for a hospice fundraising event.
The St Richard’s Hospice Rainbow Run took place at Top Barn Farm Shop & Farm Park, Holt Heath, and saw 500 supporters traverse the countryside course while being covered in eco-friendly powdered paint.
The colourful event was raising funds to support the hospice’s care of more than 3,000 patients and their loved ones across Worcestershire each year.
Sofia Gunster, events and community fundraising lead for St Richard’s Hospice, said: “We had fantastic fun on Saturday as 500 supporters ran, walked and danced through a kaleidoscope of colour. It’s wonderful to be able to offer events that really bring the community together, help make memories and raise funds for our vital care across Worcestershire.”
So far, the event has helped to raise over £14,300 for the hospice with sponsorship from the Rainbow Run still coming in.
Miss Gunster added: “Mass participation events like this can only happen with the support of local groups and companies and amazing volunteers who gift us their time on the day. Thank you to our headline sponsors Oakland Air Control Limited, photographer Imaginary Friends Photography, and everyone else who made this fundraiser possible.”
St Richard’s Hospice is an independent charity offering free, expert care for adults with an illness that cannot be cured, and support for their loved ones and carers.
Each year the hospice team supports more than 3,000 patients, family members and bereaved people in Worcestershire.
It will cost in the region of £12m to run the hospice this year, which includes patient care and all the necessary support services.
St Richard’s relies on voluntary support, including from donations, gifts in Wills, retail and events for the majority of its income with the remainder funded by the NHS.
