Challenge Event Terms & Conditions

A challenge event is a sponsored fundraiser that involves participants completing an endurance task, ranging from local activities to international adventures, to raise money for St Richard’s. These events are a way for supporters to push their limits, create memorable experiences, and raise significant funds for the hospice.

These challenge event terms and conditions should be read in conjunction with the ‘Specific Challenge Terms and Conditions’ stated at the time of booking.

These general challenge terms and conditions refer to challenge events organised by or on behalf of St Richard’s Hospice and apply to all attendees of the booked event/activity (hereafter referred to as “the Event”).

By purchasing a ticket or attending the Event, you have agreed to comply with these terms and conditions.

  • Tickets are non-refundable.
  • All ticket buyers must be over the age of 18.
  • If you are unable to attend, you may transfer your ticket to another person, but you must notify us by the Friday before the event.
  • Entry to the Event requires a valid ticket, which must be presented at the entrance on a phone or printed.
  • Children attending the event must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
  • Where an invoice is requested, payment must be received by the date outlined on the invoice. If payment is not received by the date requested your tickets will be forfeited.
  • Attendees must follow the instructions of Event staff at all times.
  • Do not rush, barge or jostle with other participants. If another participant needs medical attention alert a marshal or nearest race official.
  • Attendees must pay attention to their surroundings and terrain at all times.
  • Alcohol, drugs, or participation under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited.
  • No child aged 16 or under should be left unaccompanied on the course or anywhere on the event site.
  • Dogs participating in events (where applicable) must remain on a lead at all times.
  • St Richard’s are committed to providing a safe environment for all those who work for us, use our services, visit or support us. Verbal abuse, harassment, violence, or discrimination will not be tolerated. Anyone who is responsible for this behaviour may be asked to leave, without a refund.
  • The activities undertaken at the Event can be physically and mentally challenging.
  • Attendees must comply with all health and safety protocols implemented by the Event organisers.
  • By attending, you confirm that you and all members of your party are fit and healthy and do not have any medical condition that could adversely affect your ability to safely participate in event activities.
  • In the event of an emergency, attendees must follow the instructions of event staff and emergency services.
  • All participants, including those under your guardianship, must be physically and mentally prepared to undertake the event. If pregnant, or if you have any injury, medical condition, or disability, please consult a doctor before taking part.
  • Participation in the event carries a risk of serious injury. While strict safety standards are followed to minimise these risks, they cannot be completely eliminated.
  • You are fully responsible for any minors aged 16 or under registered by you and must accompany them at all times on the site and during the course.
  • The event or course may be altered due to weather conditions or cancelled/postponed in extreme weather.
  • This event takes place in a natural environment; some areas may have uneven or slippery ground, and insects may be present.
  • Organisers or marshals reserve the right to ask any participant to withdraw if they are deemed unfit to continue, injured, or not following event rules.
  • The Event organisers are not responsible for any personal injury, loss, or damage to personal property during the Event.
  • By attending, you accept and assume all risks associated with participation in the event.
  • The Event organisers cannot accept responsibility for any personal possessions brought to or used at the event.
  • By attending the event, you consent to being photographed, filmed, or recorded by St Richard’s Hospice or authorised third parties. If you do not wish to be photographed, please inform a member of the team.
  • Images and recordings may be used for promotional, marketing, or other purposes without compensation or prior notification.
  • Any personal information collected during the ticket purchase process will be used in accordance with the St Richard’s Hospice Privacy Notice. Visit our website for more details, Privacy Notice
  • Attendees’ contact information will be used for communication about the Event and if you have opted in, to share details of future events.
  • The Event organisers reserve the right to make changes to the Event schedule, line-up, or venue at any time.
  • In the event of cancellation, the Event organisers will provide a refund or an alternative arrangement at their discretion.
