Carers’ Support

When someone important to you becomes unwell you may find yourself providing support and practical care.

Changes in your circumstances may cause all sorts of practical issues that you have not faced before.

It is easy to get lost in the demands made on you. We recognise that you, as the carer, are very important.

St Richard’s can provide expert advice to support you as a carer. Often the team can identify potential problems early on and help solve them.

It is not unusual for carers to feel lonely, frustrated and even angry that this is happening to them. Sharing these thoughts and feelings with others in a similar situation can be very helpful.

The hospice also offers group support sessions for carers of patients supported by St Richard’s. This group is called the Tulip Carers’ Café and it runs monthly from the hospice.

If you would like to speak to us about accessing carer support, please call the Family Support and Bereavement Referral Line Monday to Thursday, 10am to 2pm, via the main hospice number 01905 763963.

When the phone line is closed, referrals can be made online.
