Join the friendly team at St Swithins, where every sale helps support patients and their loved ones. St Swithins shop is full of quality pre-loved and new items – and our volunteers make it shine. Whether you’re serving customers on the shop floor or helping in the sorting room behind the scenes, you’ll play an important part in keeping the shop running smoothly, providing great customer service and helping raise funds for hospice care..
What’s involved?
- Welcoming and serving customers across the shop floor and at the till point
- Sorting, inspecting and preparing donations for sale, including steaming, labelling and pricing items for sale
- Merchandising and helping us to create eye-catching window and shop displays
- Selling raffle tickets (when the raffle is open) to help raise funds
- Processing and recording donations according to hospice policy, helping to ensure our donated items meet our quality standards
- Keeping the shop tidy, clean and inviting.
This role could be a great fit for you, if you are:
- Friendly and approachable
- A team player, proactive and willing to learn from others
- Patient and calm under pressure (our shops can get busy!)
- Comfortable being active for several hours (breaks will be provided)
- Happy to learn how to use the till and promote Gift Aid to help us with sales (training is provided)
- Keen to provide great customer service
- Adaptable and mindful of the needs of the shop and St Richard’s Hospice.
Volunteer hours: We ask volunteers to give 3–4 hours of their time weekly, if possible, to enable us to provide a consistent shopping experience for our customers and help us keep on top of shop duties and donations.
