Sorter’s Assistant Volunteer – Warehouse, Leigh Sinton

Our shops and warehouse receive hundreds of items a week, donated by generous supporters. 

Donations must be sorted and prepared for sale before heading to our shops or online store to raise funds for our care. 

We’re appealing for volunteers to support our warehouse sorters by completing general hands-on tasks.

You’ll be based at the St Richard’s Hospice warehouse in leigh Sinton, and will work alongside the warehouse staff and volunteer team to help facilitate the smooth running of the warehouse.

Volunteer roles and hours

We ask volunteers to give ad-hoc or regular shifts on weekday afternoons, with flexible hours to suit your schedule.

  • Bagging up rag/stock
  • Hanging stock up in the racking or bringing it down seasonally
  • Breaking down cardboard
  • General tidying
  • Occasional small maintenance jobs

  • Donations processors
  • Warehouse manager

Our warehouse supports the hospice charity shops by sorting items ready for purchase at our many stores throughout Worcestershire.

About you

We are looking for caring, compassionate people who are committed to making a difference to the lives of the patients and families we support.

Volunteers in this role should:

  • Work well as part of a busy team
  • Like to be active and moving around
  • Be physically fit and happy to lift and shift 10kg bags
  • Be comfortable with climbing steps to reach higher racking levels

All volunteers are required to adhere to St Richard’s Hospice policies and procedures and complete mandatory training on an annual basis. Volunteers who regularly come to the Hospice or have patient contact are subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
